In college, I changed majors. I was a biology pre-med major, then I was a geology major (yes mom, it was a phase and you were right), and then a psychology major. But then I landed on design.

Being a little afraid of what everyone else thought of me, I can't say I wasn't paranoid of all the "she's really taking her time to graduate" smirks and the "she's really doing design of all things?" comments. Over time I learned that it really didn't matter because I finding passion in creating.

What I love about design is that it means a multitude of things. 1️⃣ Design consists of different mediums and its about creating things you love, things you might end up not loving, leveling up your craft. 2️⃣ It means receiving praise, dealing with criticism, and listening to feedback. 3️⃣ It means making something for yourself, for loved ones, for everyone.

4️⃣ Design is a community. Everyone loves what they do and they have fun doing it. I've met so many creative hearts and brilliant minds who all strive to do the same thing— enrich their communities and impact people directly through design, and I feel fulfilled to be an advocate for others through my implementation of what design can provide.
